VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

September 15, 2017
This is a charming city not to miss. If one has never visited Victoria, B.C., we would cast our vote for seeing the three best attractions as being the Empress Hotel for afternoon high tea, the Provincial Museum for its fine collection of Northwest Native artifacts, and the famous Butchart Botanical Gardens for the abundance of colorful fauna and flora.

Being the last port of call on the Holland America’s Eurodam cruise ship we opted to stay aboard having been to Victoria on three prior occasions. Overlooking the aft deck rails it was relaxing to watch passengers disembark by the throngs below at the customs check point ready to tackle the city streets at night, to reminisce over landmarks recognized and places previously seen, and to gaze out at the sunset for one last photo off the deck.
JR and I took in an early light dinner at the Lido dining area seated by a glass viewing window, ordered drinks, gazed at sea planes flying in and out of the harbor, water taxis come and go, relaxed over fine dining, sauntered with ease one last time through the ship, packed our suitcases in the cabin suite, and went to bed early prepared for the morning arrival in Seattle to disembark.
The 7-day cruise to Glacier Bay and three ports of call along the the Inside Passage of Alaska proved to be a wonderful odyssey that exceeded our expectations.
Another blissful adventure off the bucket list in retirement. Life is Good!
