Anton Plaza at the Culinary Institute of America |
If one has a passion for food we heard this is the right place to come. It is the world’s premier culinary college for training those who wish to become future chefs. Entering onto Anton Plaza in front of the Roth Hall is an impressive sight indeed.
Purple wisteria blooms over the entrance of the red brick, three-story main building, There are pergolas symmetrically surrounding the central fountain in the open courtyard. We saw students mingling around in their chef jackets outside relaxing for a break as we entered the building.

It costs about $35, 000 per year for tuition plus board and room at the Institute. Referred to as CIA it offers an exceptional dining experience in any one of its five restaurants on campus. The key is to have reservations ahead of time for dinner which we unfortunately didn’t, We have dined at the CIA sister campus of Greystone in Napa Valley back home. The hospitality office provided us a campus tour of the various kitchens and explained about the culinary program courses.

Watching some of the chefs in action through the kitchen windows crafting their skills for baking assorted breads, making cultural foods, preparing fresh pasta, meats, and creating delectable pastries and exquisite desserts was great fun.
